General Information

The Computer Science deadline to apply for Autumn entry quarter 2022-23 is Tuesday, December 7, 2021, 11:59 pm (PST). The online application is found at:

https://gradadmissions.stanford.edu/applying and will open around beginning October, 2021. We have only one admissions cycle for the MS (Including HCP) program. The HCP application process is the same as the full-time MSCS program. The Honors Cooperative Program (HCP), through the Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD), allows professionals to pursue graduate study on a part-time basis. HCP students are fully matriculated graduate students of Stanford University with all privileges, rights and responsibilities.

All application deadlines are final. Application materials such as letters of recommendation, transcripts and TOEFL scores (for international applicants) must be uploaded by the deadline. Applications will NOT be accepted after the deadline.

The department only handles CS graduate student admissions. All undergraduate admissions are handled by Stanford University Undergraduate Admissions. Helpful information about the undergraduate major in Computer Science can be found here.

Knight-Hennessy Scholars

The Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS) application deadline is October 6, 2021, 1:00pm PST. KHS is an optional scholarship program.

The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program is designed to build a multidisciplinary community of Stanford graduate students dedicated to finding creative solutions to the world's greatest challenges. The program awards up to 100 high-achieving students every year with full funding to pursue a graduate education at Stanford, including the M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science. To be considered, you must apply to Knight-Hennessy Scholars by October 6, 2021 and separately apply to the Computer Science department.

Application Fee Waiver

The Computer Science department offers application fee waivers to diversity candidates. We especially encourage such applications from first-generation, low-income students, and students from systematically marginalized backgrounds who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The process for requesting a fee waiver can be done by filling out this form.

The Computer Science department is unable to offer a traditional fee waiver.

The School of Engineering also offers fee waivers.  Please refer to the website for more information.
